June 3rd is the birthday of the Global YMCA, also named World Challenge Day. Since 2012 Lebanon’s Youth Program has participated annually in celebrating by accepting the Global YMCA’s challenge to produce an event for youth in the country. Each year is a different theme, such as basketball, football, “stand up for youth” event, etc.
The goal of celebrating this day globally is to increase the visibility of YMCAs around the world, and to let the youth know that we are here supporting them. We try to bring the spirit and ideals of the YMCA, such as diversity, tolerance, and equality, to every event we plan, and particularly for our World Alliance Challenge Day event!
